Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions About Notice of Recorded Document in New York City – May 2, 2025

The “Notice of Recorded Document” is a program that allows property owners and other authorized individuals to receive alerts when deeds, mortgages, or related documents are recorded against a property in New York City. This notification system is designed to help limit the impact of fraudulent filings by providing timely alerts—typically the day after a document is recorded.

Registration is free and can be done online via the Department of Finance or ACRIS websites, using either a property address or borough/block/lot number. Notifications are not available for individual cooperative apartments or timeshares. Registrants receive email or mail alerts for eligible documents and can cancel or modify their registration at any time.
